Social Studies Education ​Resources

Social Studies Education Resources help students develop a deeper understanding of the social, cultural, economic, and political systems that shape our world and encourage them to think critically about the issues and challenges facing society. 

Anti-Defamation League- Recommend Middle/ High School

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is a non-profit organization that combats hate and bigotry and promotes civil rights and equality. The ADL's "Lesson Plans" section is a collection of educational resources and activities designed to help teachers encourage classroom tolerance, diversity, and respect. 

The lesson plans cover various topics, including anti-Semitism, bullying, prejudice, and the Holocaust, and are designed to be age-appropriate and aligned with national educational standards.

Classroom Law Project is a non-profit organization based in Oregon that provides educational resources and programs to support teaching law-related subjects in schools. Common Core Sheets- Recommend Middle/High School as well as other subjects

Features a wide range of worksheets, including practice sheets, assessments, and answer keys, designed to help teachers implement the Common Core Standards in their classrooms. 

​Facing History- Recommend Middle/High School 

Facing History and Ourselves is a non-profit organization that provides educational resources and programs to support teaching history and social justice. The organization's mission is to engage students in examining history, identity, and ethics to promote the development of informed and responsible citizens.

Hippo Campus- Recommend Middle/High School as well as other subjects

HippoCampus is a free online learning platform that provides access to multimedia educational resources in various subjects, including math, science, history, and English. The site features video lessons, interactive simulations, and other multimedia resources to make learning engaging and accessible. 

The resources are provided by the National Repository of Online Courses (NROC), a non-profit organization, and are available to anyone with an internet connection.

*iCivics-Recommend All

iCivics is a non-profit organization that provides free educational resources and games to teach students about the U.S. government and civic engagement. The organization's mission is to empower students to become informed and active citizens by providing them with the knowledge and skills they need to understand and participate in the democratic process. 

Inquired- Recommend Middle/High School 

InquirED is a non-profit organization that provides educational resources and programs to support the teaching of inquiry-based learning. Inquiry-based learning is a teaching approach that focuses on student-led exploration, discovery, and problem-solving and is designed to help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

​It's Ok to be Different- Recommend Middle/High School 

It's Okay to Be Different is a non-profit organization that provides educational resources and programs to support the teaching of diversity, inclusion, and tolerance. The organization's mission is to promote understanding and acceptance of differences and to help students develop the skills and attitudes they need to become respectful and inclusive members of their communities. ​

*Kids Discover-Recommend All

Learning for Justice- Recommend Middle/ High School

Museum of Tolerance- Recommend Middle/High School

Newsela is an online platform that provides access to high-quality, relevant, and engaging non-fiction content in various subjects, including social studies. The platform's social studies content includes articles and resources covering multiple topics, from American history and government to world events and cultures.
